September 24, 2007

Okay here's another random update...It's weird not filling out the blog everyday like I did all summer, but our life isn't as exciting as it was while we lived in Europe! HAHA! WE are just so busy with everyday things that we have gotten way behind on this thing.
So to fix that, I'm giving you an update. Josh is currently in Kansas City, KS doing interviews with a couple of law firms. He got to spend a little bit of time with Katie and Luke yesterday which was great! We also just got back on Sunday from California where he interviewed with 11 firms. Hopefully something will come of all of these interviews!! It's been so great for Josh though to be able to interview so much and meet new people and learn so much about different firms.
I've been staying busy with school and work. California put me a little behind in things because I spent the whole time at the beach with my mother-in-law--and believe me it was worth it!!! I had a blast those 4 days! We are stoked because we get to go back in two weeks! Josh got a call-back interview with one of the firms he interviewed with down in California and so they're flying BOTH of us down for the weekend!!! We are stoked!
Anyways, what else??? Not a whole lot to report--we do want to say good luck to Jarrett who has just moved to Mesa, AZ. He's lived in Logan, UT for 11 years and so this is a big move for him!!! GOOD LUCK!!! We miss you already!
Okay, well, I think that's it. Not much of an update, but hey, it's better then nothing! I'm off to bed now--Josh gets back tomorrow--YEA!!! We will definately be posting pictures soon of California and Kansas and just life in general!

September 12 ,2007

We've decided since this is our blog we can brag about ourselves and not feel too bad about it. So, we're going to update everyone on what we're up to so far this school year.
Josh is staying very busy with all of his classes, which includes Law Review, and he's in the middle of interviews for summer internships (for next summer). He has 40+ interviews with different firms and he's done over 10 of them so far. He was particularly excited about one callback interview he has coming up in a couple of weeks. It's with the firm Bryan Cave and it's for their office headquarters in Kansas City. It's a big firm and he's really excited about flying out there and interviewing with them. So, he's really stoked about that. He also has 8 interviews lined up in California with various big firms, so we leave next week for those. He's excited about all of these great interviews! He's really enjoying his Real Estate Development class. He gets to develop an area in Orem and if the city likes his ideas they'll actually use them!!! So, he's working hard on that. He also has his first test coming up on Friday for his Real Estate Finance class, so he's been working hard on studying for that. He's just doing great with everything!
I have had a couple of really great opportunities come my way as well in these last few weeks. I was asked by an old professor to be a Research Assistant for her this semester. I'm going to be writing research papers with her and hopefully getting some published in various journals. I basically getting paid to write, which is a great thing because I enjoy writing! An added bonus is the fact that I might become published--which is a huge thing in the Psychology world. Then, after she hired me as her R.A. she asked me if I wanted to be a staff member of the undergraduate Psychology Journal, Intuition, at BYU. I was really excited about that. I get to review research papers, edit them, and put together the Journal with 5 other staff members. What's great about this is the fact that most colleges don't even have an undergraduate journal and so BYU is unique in this way. Other schools and professors look favorably on BYU because they have this journal, so it's really cool!
After getting both of those opportunities, another professor that I was a T.A. for last semester asked me to be a T.A. for him again this semester. Last semester, I was helping him write his textbook that he was developing. This semester, now that that is done, he wants me to be his classroom T.A. and basically be in charge of the students in his class. I even get to teach the lab portion of the class, which is just awesome! I'm really excited about this and tonight is my first class with them.
So, as you can see, Josh and I are both very busy this semester. I am taking 18 credits and he's enrolled in 17 credits. WOW! So far though it's working out all right. We're having a great time!
